Planned Parenthood of Greater Orlando believes that sexuality education should:
- Seek to increase understanding of sexuality as a normal, healthy, lifelong aspect of human development
- Enhance awareness that there are differences in sexual expression and that sexuality is a personal matter
- Help individuals understand their sexuality, communicate their sexual feelings and decisions to others, and accept responsibility for their sexual decisions
- Be accurate, age appropriate, and free of “scare tactics”
PPGO and Orange County Public Schools have partnered for over a decade to provide Orange County’s middle and high school students with the tools they need to protect themselves against unintended pregnancy and sexually transmitted disease through an abstinence-plus curriculum that stresses the benefits of abstaining from sex as the best way to avoid unintended pregnancy and STDs. We also provide instruction to students about STD and HIV prevention, contraceptive options, and other human sexuality topics in the Orange County Public Schools Human Sexuality Education curriculum.
